ABOUT THE PLANTS
(ARTEMESIA)
MYTHOLOGY BEHIND THE NAME
WHO IS ARTEMIS?

Artemis is commonly known as the Greek Goddess of the hunt, however, she was more like the goddess of mother nature.
She was known to turn into bears and wild bores to protect wild lands from greedy kings and overbearing hunters.
She was also the protectress of women, women in child birth, and women and children in need.
THE ARTEMISIA PLANTS
Mugwort
Artemisia douglasiana
Wormwood
Artemisia absinthia
Sagebrush
Artemisia californica
Artemisia is the genus of 3 local plants, Sage brush (Artemisia californica), Wormwood (Artemisia absinthia), and Mugwort (Artemisia douglasiana).

Mugwort was one of the first plants I ever learned how to identify, as is it used as an anti-inflammatory topical remedy for poison oak.
-
It has slender leaves, that often have three to five pointed lobes at the tip of the leaf (somewhat resembling a trident).
-
The top surface of the leaf is light green, and the bottom is silvery or white, and very hairy.
-
The scent is both musky and sweet, and the tea, stuffed herb pillow, and essential oil have been used to enhance or bring on lucid dreams.

Artemisia Academy was formed from the dream that my healing journey could help other practitioners find their path and become HEALED healers, with:
-
Healthy boundaries,
-
Clear expectations, and
-
A strong emphasis that helping others should not come at your own bodies expense.

We hope to create not only another generation of incredible herbalists, but also successful entrepreneurs, that create passionately fulfilling & purposeful lives that inspire others to find their path and purpose as well.

Just as the Greek Goddess Artemis stood up for the healing plants, lands, and people in need;
-
We hope to create a culture of personal responsibility & duty to protect the lands we live on and be of service to our community.
-
We believe many businesses today have harmed both the people and the planet do to a lack of these values.
-
Our goal is to teach herbalists to not only care for themselves and their family, but also the land that we are a part of, that they will in turn create holistic businesses that serve our community for generations to come.
