ABOUT THIS LOCATION

Elwood Butterfly Preserve is a stunning Eucalyptus grove along the grassy Elwood Bluffs.  It has a mixture of native plants, and many invasive species,  some which have become naturalized, such as the Blue Gum Eucalyptus, in the life cycles of the Monarch Butterfly migration route each year.

The peak time to see the Butterflies are from November-February, however the peak time to see herbs is typically late spring-summer.  We typically visit in the summertime just because there can be some slight flooding after winter storms.

Come enjoy a 1/2 shaded stroll with us along ~1.5 mile stretch of trail.  The walk will be mostly flat, however wheelchair access might be limited on some of the terrain.

General Information about this location:

  • There are no restrooms available at this location.
  • Dogs are welcome to come as long as they remain on leash.
  • Children under the age of 12 can come free of charge.
